Defrosting and heating.

  • It is preferable to defrost the meals in the refrigerator, which will take 8-10 hours. If you forget or need a meal in a hurry, defrost in the microwave, following manufacturers directions. Microwave defrosting can result in excess water, piercing a few holes in the bottom of the container will allow the water to drain away.
  • Heating the meal can be done in the microwave or conventional oven. The foil containers are microwave friendly. If you have a glass plate the container can be placed directly on to it. If you have a metal grid, simply place the foil container on a glass or ceramic plate. Ensure the foil does not touch the sides of the microwave, and that there are no metal utensils in it. Remove the lid before heating. Heating times are 4 – 7 minutes depending on the microwave power.
  • In a conventional oven, pre-heat to 180 C. Remove the lid and heat for 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Frozen meals are best used within six months of preparation.
