Mashed Potatoes – So Many Ways

Buttery mashed potatoes are the ultimate comfort food, and really go with most dishes.  Have you ever thought of flavouring them for a change?

Try some of these additions and up-grade them a bit

Finely chopped onion – This is amazing raw, but you could also cook them

Fresh garlic, gently fried – saute in butter and then add to the hot potatoes

Herbs – Possibly the simplest addition.  Try chives, parsley, origanum, sage, rosemary or mint

And perhaps some spice – Mustard, cumin, chili, nutmeg or caraway are all good

Other veggies – Baby spinach (add raw) corn, peas, mushrooms

Greens – rocket, radicchio, water-cress, fresh sprouts

Cheese – Gouda and mozzarella will give you a soothing mash.  Parmesan, Gorgonzola, cheddar are a bit stronger

Seeds and nuts – pumpkin seeds, chopped almonds, black onion seeds
